The margin of difference at the 2011 Sam Sara Invitational between the host team champion Rummel Raiders and the Holy Cross Tigers was 7.5 points.  The third place team was 140 points behind the Tigers.

Rummel and Holy Cross will vie again this weekend during the 2012 Sam Sara Invitational.  To date, sixteen teams are scheduled to participate in the event which will be held at Archbishop Rummel's gymnasium on Friday and Saturday.

Other teams which may challenge for the title include the 2012 Division III state champion Brusly Panthers and the Fighting Irish of Grace King.

Rummel is fresh off of a victory at last week's Trygg Memorial Tournament in which they had five individual champions.  Holy Cross soundly defeated the Raiders in a dual meet on November 14th, but much of Rummel's first team was unable to participate due to illness and injuries.  The two schools were close to full strength at a quad-meet at Fontainebleau on November 20th but did not square-off against each other.

Four returning state champions are scheduled to compete.  Wrestlers who could be among the top seeds in the tournament are presented in the table below:

Weight Wrestlers/Notes
106 Rummel's Devyn Breaud is 8-3 and placed 2nd at last week's Trygg and at the Mandeville Open; Jonathan Townsend of East Jefferson placed 4th.
113 Holy Cross' Dylan Soileau is 15-4; King's Jonathan Davadi won the Trygg last week and is 4-0 since moving to 113 lbs.
120 Rummel's Tyler Mire is 13-1; Holy Cross' Alex Nicosia, a returning Division II state champion, is 11-2 and placed 2nd at the Warrior and Mandeville Opens to wrestlers not scheduled to be at the Sam Sara; Baret Sanchez, a returning Division III state champion is 12-1, with his only loss a 4-2 decision to Nicosia; King's Angello Medina-Perez is always a threat.
126 Rummel's Matt Calcote is a two-time returning Division I state champion and is 12-1 this year with wins at the Trygg and Raider Opens; Ehret's Stefon Foster is 7-3; Wyatt LeJeune of Brusly is 9-4 but has two losses to Foster.
132 Brusly's returning Division III state champion Trevor Schermer is 12-1; Jorge Sanchez of Helen Cox is 11-2 with a loss to Schermer in the finals of the Griffin; Rummel's Rick LaCava is 7-0 this year.
138 George Benoit is 16-2 for Holy Cross this season; Rummel's Joe Kerry is fresh off of an Outstanding Wrestler Award winning performance at the Trygg with victories over King's Christian Heningberg and Belle Chasse's Jordan Mastrianni (10-2).
145 Rummel's Tyler Frame's 15-0 record includes 13 pins, a technical fall, a major decision and three tournament victories; Jack Fontenot of Ehret is 7-3, won the Griffin and took 3rd at the Trygg; Fontainebleau's Brandon Verges is 7-3 but with a close win over Fontenot at 152 lbs.
152 Holy Cross's Austin Doyle is 11-5 this season.
160 Grace King's Brandon Briones won last week's Trygg and is 8-2, with his only loss coming from De la Salle's Alex Martin; Josh Gauche of Destrehan was Briones' opponent in the finals last week.

285 Maycol Rizo of Grace King is 7-0, winning all of his matches via pins in under four minutes.
