Brother Martin won the Brother Martin Duals 267-12 Saturday evening.  Teurlings Catholic was second with 183-120, followed by Live Oak at 156-145, St. Louis Catholic at 93-196 and Archbishop Shaw at 41-268.

Actually, the math works in this case, but only because there were not any really close matches.  Had two or three of the teams been evenly matched, an unexpected pin or non-pin here or there would throw the mathematical graph askew, and the points scored and allowed would not reflect a team's wins and losses.

What really matters is that Brother Martin went 4-0, improving their dual meet record this season to 10-0.  Teurlings went 3-1.  Live Oak had two wins against two losses.  St. Louis won one and lost three, and Shaw, depleted by illness and injuries, went 0-4.

Two matches were of particular interest.

Cody Hill of Live Oak had wrestled and defeated almost every possible contender at 126 lbs. this year.  His only two losses, to Catholic's Brennan Taylor, have been sandwiched between two victories over Taylor.  He has beaten returning Division I state champions Matt Calcote of Rummel and Jacob Dale of Comeaux.  He has wins over John Ehret's Stefon Foster, King's Angello Medina-Perez, Teurlings Catholic's Tristan Lee and Brusly's Wyatt LeJeune.  Austin Meyn of Brother Martin has been "hot" of late.  He had a loss to Foster in early November but avenged it later in the week in the finals of the Mandeville Open.  His other three losses came against wrestlers from Texas.  Last week, in Germantown, Tennessee, he was not seeded yet won the Blackhorse Invitational.  Hill, a 2012 Division II and Louisiana Classic champion, prevailed 5-3, scoring two takedowns and an escape to Meyn's three escapes.

Louis Stutes of St. Louis Catholic is a returning Division II state champion, and came to Brother Martin with a record of 13-0 and championships in the Central, Griffin and Spartan Opens.  Brother Martin's Devin LeBlanc entered the duals at 14-0, including wins at the Blackhorse Invitational and, a little earlier in the season, the Cinco Ranch "Big Twelve" in Katy, Texas.  The match belonged to LeBlanc, who scored two takedowns and an escape while not allowing Stutes to score at all.
