Championship Bracket     Consolation Bracket

Teurlings Catholic senior Jimmy McBride (20-6) defeated Mandeville's senior Jack Ingalls (10-8 on TrackWrestling) 8-5 on his way to a third-place finish at the LA Classic.  The #1 and #2 seeds respectively, another meeting was not guaranteed, and each had worthy opponents standing in the way of a rematch.

Semifinals

McBride's first two matches took up 2:05 of his time.  His quarterfinal match was harder, but he decisioned Comeaux's Cabot Bellard 10-6.  (Bellard may have been tired from his previous match, which was a "Sudden Victory" win over #8 Baron Clofer of John Curtis.)  Northside's Javian Adams, the #4 seed with a 13-5 record, used three pins to reach the semifinals.  McBride defeated Adams 8-3 at the LA Classic and this match proved very similar, with McBride coming out on top again by a score of 7-4.

Ingalls followed a first round pin in 1:21 with a tough 4-1 decision over Matthew Moreau of Catholic.  Calvary Baptist's JV squad member Devine Deramus, a surprise winner over 7th-seeded Trenton Pelloquin of Basile, proved to be less of a hindrance for Ingalls, who won his way into a semifinal match with a 16-1 technical fall.  St. Louis' Conway Lebleu, with a 27-5 record, was the 3rd seed.  He advanced to the match against Ingalls with two first round pins and a tough 6-4 win over Byrd's 6th-seeded Darrick Roberson.  Lebleu was not able to muster enough against Ingalls, though, and the Mandeville wrestler advanced to the finals with an 8-3 win.

Lebleu and Adams met in the consolation finals.  Earlier in the season Lebleu had defeated Adams 6-2, and he did so again by a 4-1 margin.  Helping Jesuit's cause was unseeded Robert Lobrano, who, after losing his first match to Adams, scored four pins for the Blue Jays and finished in fifth place.

Finals

McBride started the final with a double-leg takedown but Ingalls soon reversed him.  McBride was able to escape and led 3-2 when the period ended.

McBride started on the bottom in the second period and quickly escaped.  When it looked like he was about to score another takedown (above, left) Ingalls set-up and did a Granby roll, kept hold of McBride's arm to bring McBride's head down, and spun behind him for a takedown of his own with 10 second left.  In the third period, McBride let Ingalls go at the very beginning, but Ingalls again took McBride down, this time by sprawling on a desperate takedown shot and spinning behind his opponent.  McBride escaped again, but the match ended in a 9-5 victory for Ingalls.*
