Two Greater New Orleans area wrestlers competed for Wartburg college Friday and Saturday in the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Connor Campo (St. Paul's - 2013) and Mark Pinero (Rummel - 2011) competed in the 141 lbs. and 149 lbs. weight classes respectively.

Pinero, who was not seeded at 149 lbs., won two matches in the consolation rounds after a first round defeat.  The former Raider scored a major 9-1 decision over Springfield's Eric Hamrick and followed that with a 10-2 major decision over Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Ryan Schneider.  Pinero finished his junior year at Wartburg with a 32-14 record.

At 141 lbs. Campo was the seventh seed but was not able to win a match.  He was very close, though.  The freshman lost a 7-6 Sudden Victory decision to Charles Banaszak of Chicago in the first round and a 6-5 decision to Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Nathaniel Behnke.  Campo finished his freshman year with a record of 29-13.

Other members of the Knights hailing from Louisiana include sophomore Dexter Bass (Holy Cross), junior Dakota Boesch (Rummel), Sophomore Nick Michael (Holy Cross)and sophomore Gerard Roman (Brother Martin)
