Mandeville, LA - The Mandeville Open has proved to be a reliable indicator of Greater New Orleans area wrestling potential.  Scheduled before the football season ends and when many teams do not deem themselves ready to travel out of state, it is one of the few tournaments in which the top GNO teams participate together.

Last year was very prophetic.  A table of where certain individual wrestlers placed in the 2012 Mandeville Open, and then in the 2013 LHSAA state championships, is presented below.  Expected returning competitors are in bold print.:

Additionally, the finals match between Rummel's Tyler Frame and Brother Martin's Tyler Robertson went into overtime in which Frame won 6-4 in "Sudden Victory."  Frame and Robertson were seeded #1 and #2 respectively at the state championships, with Robertson placing 3rd.

Brother Martin, Covington, Holy Cross, Northshore, Fontainebleau, Mandeville, Pearl River, Rummel, St. Amant, St. Paul's and Shaw are slated to be participating in the tournament.
