It's here.  The culmination of four-months-worth of dedication, hydration, perspiration, inspiration and starvation (and for some probably, regurgitation), the 2015 LHSAA State Wrestling Championships, are upon us.  Seven hundred and twenty-six young men and women from 81 Louisiana high schools will congregate at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner this weekend to vie for the right to be called "the best."

"It's the deep breath before the plunge."

In Division I Brother Martin, with three returning state champions and five #1 seeds, is a heavy favorite.  Unless something drastic happens to the Crusaders, look for Holy Cross and Jesuit to pitch a heated battle for the runner-up spot.

Teurlings Catholic is favored to win the Division II championship for the fourth time in the last five years, but Live Oak and Parkway will take advantage of any miscues by the Rebels.

Perennial Division III champions Brusly are favorites once again with three state champions in their lineup, but De la Salle may have a say in who brings home that edition of the Brother Melchior Trophy.

For up-to-date coverage of the event, by no means look here!  The Louisiana Wrestling News hopes to be able to put some Friday photos up, as well as a list of upsets or close matches, but you best bets for results as fast as they can be input are:

The mats were not always clear Thursday evening, as evidenced by this wrestler (to be named later):
