Des Bordes goes out in style in his
last match at Mandeville |
February 4th, 2015 | Written by: Editor |
Mandeville senior Nicholas Des Bordes wrestled his last match at the
Mandeville Gym Wednesday night as Mandeville hosted Northshore and South
Plaquemines in a tri-meet, and the Louisiana Wrestling News
photographer actually just happened to be in the neighborhood.
Unfortunately the itinerant LWN photographer was not in time to see
South Plaquemines matches, but he was in time for the last dual between
Northshore and Mandeville. Time did not allow identifying the competitors
by name, but hopefully some will enjoy the photographs.
In his sophomore year Des Bordes was 29-10 at 106 pounds,
won the St. Tammany Parish Championships (his second of four) and was one win
shy of placing for the Skippers in the state championships. As a junior
Des Bordes finished 4th in the state championships at 120 lbs., posted a 34-10
record against Louisiana competition and won his third St. Tammany Parish title.
This season the senior is 28-5. Three of those
losses were by a combined total of four points. He won the St. Michael
Warrior Open, won his fourth St. Tammany Parish championship, placed second at he
Mandeville Open, placed fourth at the Louisiana Classic and last weekend had a
runner-up finish at the Ken Cole Invitational, losing to a defending Division I
state champion only 5-3. In a very tough 120 lbs. weight class, Des Bordes
should be seeded 5th or 6th at the state championshps.
Des Bordes pinned his Northshore opponent in 30 seconds
and then was carried in tribute by his Skipper teammates around the Mandeville
mat.
