Early GNO preeminence at stake at Mandeville Open |
November 13, 2014 | Written by: Editor |
Holy Cross and Jesuit should get a fair idea of which team might be the one to challenge Brother Martin come February as their first teams are expected to vie in the Mandeville Open on Saturday. This will be the Tigers' first event of the new season, whereas Jesuit crowned three champions and had four runners-up at last week's St. Michael Warrior Open. While the Warrior featured teams from across the state, this event has a concentration of teams from the Greater New Orleans area.
Nick Des Bordes of host school Mandeville will be seeking his second tournament title in as many weeks, as will Rummel's Robert Fairchild and Joe Kerry, and Brother Martin's Seth Johnson.
Brother Martin's first team will be in Houston for a Friday dual meet with Strake Jesuit, followed by the Cinco Ranch tournament on Saturday. But the Crusaders should be ably represented by Johnson and Warrior Open placers Paul-Stephen Schmidt, Matt Williams, Anthony Schneider and Travis Veiner.
Other notable names who might participate are Hahnville's Nick Lirette and Kendrick Jones, Fisher's Troy Bourgeois, Thomas Jefferson's Logan Griffin, and Zack Lawson, Brandon Verges, Ethan Eisenhardt and Christian Ponson of Fontainebleau.
Expected to return to the 2014 Mandeville Open are the following 2013 champions: | |||||||||||
