The first seven matches between De la Salle and Grace King Thursday night at the De la Salle gymnasium ended in falls.  Registering falls for the visiting Irish were Tristan Pettinger (113 lbs.), Mauricio Ballesteros (120 lbs.), James Cagel (152 lbs.) and Harley Grandstaff (160 lbs.), while the home Cavaliers garnered pins by Jeffrey Heffner (106 lbs.), Glen Gebo (138 lbs.) and Conrad Wyre (145 lbs.).  Forfeits at 126 lbs. and 132 lbs. went in favor of Grace King while the Cavaliers benefitted by forfeits at 170 lbs., 182 lbs. and 220 lbs.  The 195 lbs. weight class was a forfeit on both sides.

That led to a match-deciding paring at 285 lbs. between Grace King's Glenwood Hunter and De la Salle's Payton Smith.  In the first period Hunter was able to score two takedowns which were each followed by escapes by Smith.  Hunter, however, was cited for locking his hands twice, giving Smith two technical violation points, and the round ended in a 4-4 tie.  Starting on the bottom in the second round Hunter escaped and again took Smith down, but he was again cited for locking his hands, this time leading to two technical violation points for Smith, who trailed by only one point, 7-6, going into the third round.  Smith tied the score at 7-7 with an escape in the third, and the match looked as if it might head to a Sudden Death period, but as time was running out Hunter was able to push Smith's head down to the mat and spin around him for the two-point win, giving Grace King a 39-36 victory.

Seven exhibition matches were held after the regulation dual meet was completed.
