Lirette only Louisianan remaining in
Junior Freestyle; Kayser one match from All-American placing in Cadets |

Nicholas Lirette, the 2014 Division I runner-up and 2015 Division I 3rd-place
finisher from Hahnville, is the only Louisiana wrestler left in the USAW
Nationals events in Fargo, ND. Lirette posted a 4-1 record on Thursday.
He won his round-one match 14-4, but fell in his round-two match by the same
score. In the consolation rounds he ran off three victories in a row with
wins of 10-0, 14-6 and 18-8. His first match on Friday will be against
Nate Johnson, a 126 pound Oregon 6A state folkstyle champion. Other
winners on the day were Jake Rando, who posted a 2-2 record, and Robert
Fairchild, who was 1-2. Mark Stevens, Zach Funderburk, Michael Benton and
Sam Dufour also competed in the event.
In the Cadet Freestyle 138 pounds quarterfinals Kayser lost 8-1 to Kameron Frame of Kansas, after which he lost to Eli King of Tennessee 16-6. King and Frame are scheduled to compete for 5th place on Friday. Kayser finished his event with a 3-2 record and was one win away from competing for 7th place and All-American honors.
