Comeaux won it's second Jacob McMillan Memorial Tournament in four years on Saturday at the Lafayette High School gymnasium.  Twenty-three teams, predominantly from the Lafayette and Lake Charles aresa, but also including Parkway of Bossier City, participated in the event.

TrackWrestling's servers apparently were not in shape for overtime, which may have been the results of Christmas falling on a Friday, and hence more tournaments than expected were held last weekend,.  The McMillan was consistently delayed during the first few rounds and wrestling stopped completely for about an hour before the semifinals.  While the McMillan waited for TW to work, the tournament director of the Zachary Big Horse opted to finish it "the old-fashioned way" by making bout sheets and completing brackets by hand (as of 7 p.m. on December 21st the brackets were in the process of being completed.)

The editor surmises that TW was not ready for such a large influx of information at one time.  The delay ended in the early evening, which may have been due to the conclusion of eastern time zone tournaments lessening the data TW received at one time.

The Comeaux Spartans (left) won the eighth annual Jacob McMillan Memorial Tournament.  Sulphur (finalists - right) placed second. The Spartans scored 242.5 points and had four champions.  The Sulphur Golden Tornadoes placed second with 145 points.  Rayne was third (134 points) followed by the host Lafayette Lions (131 points) and Parkway (110.5).

Semifinals, Consolation Finals and Finals

 Gavin Christ of Basile (left) pinned three of his four opponents, including Parkway's 2015 Division II third-place finisher Garrett Strozier, to win the 120 lbs. weight class.  For his accomplishment he was voted the Outstanding Wrestler of the lighter weight classes.

Lafayette's Rodrigo Diaz, the 220 lbs. champion, pinned all four of his opponents in the first period and was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the heavier weight classes.  Diaz also won the Outstanding Wrestler award at the January 2014 event.
