SUMMARY

In the first significant test of the new wrestling season, Catholic, Airline and Jesuit proved they will be major players this year, while Ouachita Christian showed they may be a major Division III threat.  This was demonstrated at the 2016 St. Michael the Archangel Warrior Open on Saturday, November 5th, 2016.

With 10 scoring wrestlers, Catholic had two champions, four runners-up and four third-place finishers, leading them to a team championship with 221.5 points.  Airline, with only eight wrestlers, placed second with 171 points.  The Vikings had three champions, two runners-up and three third-place finishers.  Jesuit finished third with 168 points.  The Blue Jays had three champions, two runners-up and one third-place finisher, but were without returning Division I state champions Eli Larriviere and Corey Dublin, Colby Queyrouze, Adam Larriviere, Jordan Giewat and a scoring William Rosevalley.

Ouachita Christian finished fourth with 99.5 points, 32 points higher than the next Division III entrant, John Curtis, which placed fifth.

Champs Yokubaitis (St. Louis) and Gavin Christ (Basile).	The Airline Vikings brought eight wrestlers, all of whom placed 3rd or higher.
