The 2016 Deep South Bayou Duals will be held this Thursday and Friday at the River Center in Baton Rouge.

BRUSLY HIGH SCHOOL In Association with Brother Martin High School Present the  8th Annual Deep South Bayou Duals Thursday, December 29th through Friday, December 30th at the Baton Rouge River Center   Brusly High School, along with Brother Martin High School, would like to invite you and your team to come and enjoy our hospitality and the competition at our 8th annual Deep South Bayou Duals. The Deep South Bayou Duals is quickly becoming one of the premier high school wrestling events in the country. The field consists of the top Louisiana teams versus a stellar group from multiple states. Over the past 7 years we have been fortunate enough to host many teams from 13 different states. Our goal is to offer participating teams plenty of quality matches as we constantly strive to bring in excellent competition and diverse styles of wrestling. We also thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to expose our out of state friends to a little bit of Cajun Country.  Click HERE for an event flyer

Louisiana teams that are scheduled to participate are: Acadiana, Belle Chasse, Brother Martin, Brusly, Catholic, Comeaux, De la Salle, East Ascension, Fontainebleau, Holy Cross, Jesuit, Lafayette, Live Oak, Shaw, St. Amant, St. Michael the Archangel, Sulphur, Teurlings Catholic and Zachary.

Out-of-state teams will include Fort Walton Beach High School, Florida, Haralson County, GA and Niceville, Florida, and the following teams with suggested wrestlers on which to keep an eye:

FLORIDA

Arnold (3^rd last season in 1A state) - Returning state qualifiers: E. Pickren 2^nd at 106, W. Pickren 4^th at 120, McClanahan 3^rd at 132 (2015 state champ), St.Amant qualified at 138;

Cypress Bay (3A) – Returning state qualifiers: Portilla 106, Fuertes 132, Toribo 220 (no placers and it is not clear if the weights are from last year or this year);

Lakewood Ranch (3A) – Returning state qualifier: 132 Reed (placed 3^rd in 2016 and 2^nd in 2015).

GEORGIA

Jefferson (3A state champs last season, 16x defending state champs) - Returning state qualifiers: Statia 2^nd at 106, Bates 2^nd at 113, Potts 3^rd at 126, Strong 6^th at 138, Corbett 5^th at 160, Little 1^st at 182 (3x state champ and 2x DSBD outstanding wrestler), Holman 1^st at 285;

South Paulding (5^th last season in 5A) - Returning state qualifiers: Byers at 120, Moon 2^nd at 132, Carter at 138, Robinson at 145, Mctyre 4^th at 170, Brown at 182.

MISSOURI

Jefferson City (2^nd last season in Class 4, which is the largest division) - Returning state qualifiers: 138 Kuster, 145 Mayberry, 160 Barnes (current weights, not sure if any were state placers last season).

OKLAHOMA

Altus (4^th last season in 5A) - Returning state qualifiers: Gomez 2^nd at 113, Pollard at 120, Canchala 4^th at 182, Baldwin at 195;

Fort Gibson (8^th last season in 4A) - Returning state placers and qualifiers: Walton at 106, Murphy at 138, Cates 2^nd at 182, Sanchez 3^rd at 195, Engor at 220, Rosales at 285

Westmoore (currently ranked #5 in 6A) – Currently ranked wrestlers: 113 Derr #7, 120 Randall #2 (2x state champ), 132 Blumenthal #6, 145 Swanson #4, 152 Johnson #8, 160 Painter #5, 182 Flandermeyer #3, 220 Martinez #5.

TENNESSEE

Arlington (currently ranked 10^th in 3A) - Currently ranked wrestlers: 106 Cannon #1, 195 Moore #5, 285 Metclaf #4;

Wilson Central (currently ranked 4^th in 3A) - Currently ranked wrestlers: 120 Sesnan #5, 170 Smith #4, 285 Kramer #2.

 TEXAS

Keller (6A) - Currently ranked wrestlers: 106 Parker Decker #4, 113 Preston Decker #3;

Flower Mound (6A) - Currently ranked wrestler: 138 Douglas #8.

Wrestling starts at 9:00 a.m. on both days. 

This is a dual meet tournament.  Friday will consist of pool rounds between the schools to determine which bracket they will participate in on Friday.
