Crusaders win their sixth consecutive Jefferson Invitational title |

A Brother Martin squad of non-starters won the Jefferson Invitational for a
sixth consecutive year at the John Ehret Gym on Saturday, December 9th.
Behind champions Jake Spellman (106 lbs.), Michael Clapp (182 lbs.) and Kyle
West (220 lbs.), the Crusaders scored 125.5 points, which was 12.5 points more
than the runner-up Rummel Raiders. Chris Montalbano won the 126 lbs.
weight class for the Rummel Raiders and was awarded the Outstanding Wrestler
trophy. Dawson Mire gave the Raiders their second title at 152 lbs.
With only seven wrestlers, the Basile Bearcats had two champions, Gavin Christ
and Isaac Cortez, a runner-up, a third-place winner and a fourth-place winner,
to finish third with 101.5 points. Anthony Ribando and Eduardo Garcia won
titles for the Shaw Eagles. The remaining titles were won by Bonnabel's Sergio
Maldonado, Trent Mahoney of East Ascension, Justin Ingram of Spanish Fort,
Alabama, Bryson Adams of Covington, and Roberto Rivero of Grace King.
