Camdyn Ingram of Live Oak was the best 152 lbs. wrestler in the state this season. The Eagle sophomore lost only one match to an out-of-state opponent during the Deep South Bayou Duals, and that was by a close 10-8 score. He won 58 matches prior to the state championships, and those included a Louisiana Classic finals win over St. Paul's Grant Hughes. He also beat Hughes for the Trey Culotta Invitational. His other wins included matches over two 2018 Division III state champions, Matthew Matherne of Ouachita Christian and Robert Christman of St. Louis, and one 2018 Division II state champion, Dalton Driggers of Parkway. He had three wins over Comeaux's Charles Hudson. En route to the Division II finals, Ingram scored falls in 0:45, 1:06 and scored a 16-1 technical fall over Parkway's Jacob Chittom.
His opponent in the finals was Carlos Femmer of Teurlings Catholic, who was seeded second with a 29-10 record. Five of those losses were to Division I opposition. Against Division II competition Femmer split matches with North Desoto's John-Michael Cristler, lost to Carencro's Billy Clay and, more telling, lost and to Ingram via a 14-1 major decision. Femmer had an easy time reaching the finals. He used a fall in 2:47, a 14-5 major decision and then a 17-1 technical fall over NOMMA's Rex Fairchild in the semifinals.
Ingram held nothing back in the finals. He used an outside single-leg with the same side arm control to spin behind Femmer for a takedown. Inserting one leg in a cross-body ride, Ingram turned Femmer with a forced nelson. When Femmer was giving up nearfall points, Ingram switched to a regular nelson, then a reverse nelson which led to a double-grapevine and a fall in 1:39.
In the quarterfinals NOMMA's Rex Fairchild, seeded sixth, defeated North Desoto's John-Michael Cristler in a wild 22-20 match (videos of this match in *.AVI, *.MOV and *.MP4 formats are located below). As luck would have it, the two met again in the consolation finals. Cristler pinned Chittom in 1:00 to reach the match to determine third-place, while Fairchild beat Rayne's unseeded Jordan McCrory 6-2. This time, however, it was Cristler coming out ahead via a fall in 1:30. Chittom defeated unseeded McCrory via a 9-1 major decision to place fifth.
