Brandon Billeaud, who has headed the Lafayette High School wrestling program since 2012, is leaving for Maurice to assist head wrestling coach Mike Stelly at North Vermillion High School.   A resident of Maurice, Billeaud's daughter already attends North Vermillion and in two years his son will also, and Billeaud likes the idea of being closer to his family and home.

Assistant Lafayette coach Nash Barreca with assume the head coaching position for the Lions and is looking for a qualified CECP holder or a University of Louisiana-Lafayette student to assist him.  Coach Barreca may be contacted at (337) 654-4656 or ijbarreca@lpssonline.com.

Billeaud's years at Lafayette were marked most noticeably by the success of 2017 graduate Rodrigo Diaz, who was undefeated in and dominated the 2016-17 220 lbs. weight class until a last second loss in the Division I state semifinals.  By that time Diaz had already signed to attend and wrestle for the University of Missouri Tigers, where he will compete as a sophomore in the upcoming season.

Billeaud will continue to direct the Jacob McMillan Memorial tournament at Lafayette High School.
