Ingram, Yokubaitis and Salinas place as All-Americans in Virginia Beach

Friday belonged to Camdyn Ingram of Live Oak, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the National High School Coaches Association Nationals in Virginia Beach, VA.  Ingram won his four matches Friday via a 14-10 decision, a fall in 3:32, a fall in 1:56 and via an 18-3 technical fall.  On Saturday, Ingram lost his semifinals match 11-7 to A. J. Tamburrino of Pennsylvania.  Tamburrino advanced to Sunday's finals.  Ingram, however, won his next match via a fall in 2:29, but lost his consolations quarterfinals match 11-5 and ended in the 7th-8th place match.  His opponent, Evan Goodall of Massachusetts, forfeited, and Ingram was guaranteed seventh-place.

Saturday belonged to Alex Yokubaitis of St. Louis and Matt Salinas of Airline.  Both are guaranteed to place 7th of 8th on Sunday.

Yokubaitis lost his first match on Friday, but on Saturday ran off a string of six-straight matches before falling 3-0 in the Consolation quarterfinals.  He won via a 16-0 technical fall, a 7-0 decision (against teammate Joshua Sarpy of North Desoto a fall in 2:07, a 3-2 decision, a 4-2 decision and a fall in 0:37.  Yokubaitis will face Jake Eckerly of New York on Sunday.

Salinas was 1-1 on Friday, but on Saturday ran off wins via a 6-4 decision, a fall in 0:30 and another 6-4 decision before falling 6-5 in the consolation quarterfinals.  Salinas will face Bobby Striggow of Minnesota on Sunday.

Aside from the three All-Americans, five wrestlers had winning records in the event.  Gavin Christ of Basile won four matches on Saturday and ended the tournament with a 5-2 record.  Brother Martin's Daniel Croy and Parkway's Isaiah Cates won three matches on Saturday and finished the event with 3-2 records.  Catholic's Jacob Fereday finished with a 3-2 record, though two of his wins were on Friday.  Morgan Manuel of Rayne also won two matches Friday and one on Saturday to finish 3-2. 

Others who won matches on Saturday were Ethan Castex of Brother Martin, Tyrick Clay of Carencro, Christian Mannino of Catholic, Clayton Hill of Live Oak, Colten Sonnier of Teurlings Catholic, Luke Romano of Catholic, Taylor Clay of Carencro, Patrick Evans of Brother Martin, Tucker Almond of Airline, Cooper Simon of Rayne Nakie Brown of St. Amant, Charles Hudson of Comeaux and Tyler Carriere of Rayne.
