Has it been said before that the mere experience of wrestling in national events outweighs win-loss records? If not, then know that it is true.
The Louisiana team at the U.S. Junior National Duals placed eighth in the Red/Blue championship bracket on Thursday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with an 0-4 record. Eight teams competed in a pool round to determine the eight places in the bracket. Louisiana lost to Florida first, 56-12. In their next match they lost to the North Dakota (Blue) team 57-12 and in their final pool match they were defeated by Tennessee 47-24. The team qualified for the 7th-8th place bracket in which they tied South Dakota 36-36. However, South Dakota won eight matches to Louisiana's seven, three of which came by forfeit, and were declared the winner via criteria.
Jordan Griffin of Live Oak and Roberto Rivero of Grace King won their first matches in the Greco-Roman event. Brother Martin's Cameron Frederick had the best day that any wrestlers had on both days, going 3-1 on Thursday.

On Friday the freestyle event begins with four pool rounds: one with 10 teams, one with nine and the remaining two with eight teams each, comprising a total of 35 teams. Louisiana will be in an eight-team pool and will face the North Dakota (Blue) team in their first match. If they win that match, they will face the winner of the Pennsylvania-California (Blue) winner. Should they lose, they will face the loser of that match. They should fare better in the freestyle competition, as most if not all of the wrestlers have more experience wrestling freestyle rather than Greco-Roman. It should be reiterated, though, that the competition in the two tournaments is ferocious.
