Trey Culotta Invitational - 220 pounds |
January 7th, 2020 | Written by: Editor |
Champion: Cole Ulfers of St. Paul |
The Trey Culotta finals was the second match between 2019 Division I 195 lbs. state champion Cole Ulfers and Brother Martin's 2019 Division I 220 lbs. runner-up Kyle West. Ulfers pinned West in their first meeting at the dual meet on December 13th, which was West's first match of the season. A "wake-up" call should go out to the 220 lbs. wrestlers in Louisiana though - Kyle West is only going to get better. Last week he was 0-1. After this weekend he is 4-2 and a Trey Culotta runner-up. And in early January he was one of only two Louisiana wrestlers to make it to the Prep Slam finals, placing second to Ulfers' fifth.
