2020 State Wrestling Championships - Division II 106 pounds |
April 15th, 2020 | Written by: Editor |
In a battle of freshmen, North Desoto's Isaac Dees defeated Teurlings Catholic's Ethan Boudreaux in a 12-9 finals match. |
Synopsis
Teurlings Catholic freshman Ethan Boudreaux did not lose a match in a dual meet all season. In the six tournaments before the state championships he won the Ken Cole and the Lafayette Metro and placed second to some of the state's best 106 lbs. wrestlers in three of them: the Dale Ketelsen Memorial, the Jacob McMillan Memorial and the Parkway Lone Survivor. In the Louisiana Classic he lost to Brother Martin's Mason Elsensohn but avenged his Dale Ketelsen Memorial loss to Jacob Houser of St. Paul to place third.
Prior to the Louisiana Classis North Desoto's Isaac Dees had only wrestled two Louisiana opponents, both from Evangel Christian Academy. In Gonzales that weekend Dees also lost to Elsensohn and lost his bid for fifth-place to Houser.
Hayden Tassin of Shaw had also lost to Elsensohn and Houser and did not place in the Louisiana Classic. Tassin was a very legitimate third-seed, and that is how he finished when the state championships were over.
