Synopsis

Charles Travasos of Teurlings Catholic placed third in 2018 when he was seeded third, and in 2019, when he was seeded first, he fell to Rayne's Manuel Morgan by two points.  This season he would finish as needed, even if it took a concussion to do it.

The concussion kept him off of the mats between December 14 and January 10th, so he only competed in 24 matches.  He won the Lafayette Metro championship and placed second at the Dale Ketelsen Memorial and the Jacob McMillan Memorial, and sixth at the Louisiana Classic.  All four of his losses came from Division I wrestlers who placed second (Jacob Yawn of Byrd and Riley Horvath of Brother Martin) or fourth (Brad Mahoney of East Ascension and Ben Davidson of St. Paul) in the Division I state championships.

He had some quality wins, including a 9-5 pre-Louisiana Classic match against Mahoney, an 8-0 major decision over Shaw's Armando Amaya, a fall in 0:15 over Holy Cross' Jake Romig, and two wins, a fall in 5:26 and a 3-0 decision over Sulphur's Hugo Perez.  He scored falls in 1:22, 2:24 and 4:49 to reach the finals.

In the finals he faced North Desoto sophomore Hunter Hanson.  Hanson, not counting out-of-state losses, was 34-2 upon entering the state championships.  He placed third at the Heath Invitational, 4th at the Bring the Hammer Pools and third at the Northwest Louisiana Regionals.  His path to the finals included a bye, a 3:25 quarterfinals pin and a 7-2 decision over Amaya.
