Synopsis
Brian Amis of Brusly lost four matches prior to the state tournament.
Logan Brimmer of Hahnville, Axel Encalada-Arce and Ashton Freeman of
Zachary placed 1st, 3rd and 4th respectively in Division I. Miles
Doucet of Rayne placed second in Division II. He won the Brusly
Invitational and the Greater Baton Rouge Championships He placed fifth
at the Louisiana Classic and sixth, due to a forfeit, at the Ken Cole
Memorial. His road to the finals included a round-one bye, a
quarterfinals fall in 0:35 and then a very hard 5-3 match over
fifth-seed Demond Garner of St. Michael, whom he defeated 4-1 at the
GBRCs.
Third-seeded Gabe Duplechin won the Jacob McMillan Memorial and Rayne
Invitational tournaments, placed third at the Ken Cole Memorial, placed
fourth at the Brusly Invitational and placed sixth at the Trey Culotta
Invitational. However, he had lost to Evangel's second-seeded Jax
Miller twice. Nothing at
this event came easily for Duplechin. He needed 2:23 to pin
Lakeside freshman Gavin Garland. Sixth-seeded Henry Milligan of St. Louis gave Lewis a 6-2
match and in the semifinals Duplechin won via a 3-0 score.
