The 106 lbs. weight class featured some wily veterans of state championship and national events, as well as varsity novices, and it was one of the newcomers who prevailed.  Highly touted Shaw freshman Caden Judice forced his way past D2 sixth-place winner Bryce Latino of Lakeshore, a very experienced Michael Finders of Airline and then St. Amant senior Johnny Laris, who was one match away from placing in Division I in 2022.  Judice scored two falls, a major decision and a technical fall on his path to the championships.  The sophomore Finders placed third over Jesuit freshman Max Belsome, who won his first two varsity matches via falls.

Sam Houston sophomore Chevy Coleman, just two days after learning the LHSAA tabled a petition for a two-year probationary period for sanctioned all-girls wrestling in Louisiana, went 2-2 on the day, recording two falls.
