Tiger Invitational - 120 pounds |
November 19th, 2023 | Written by: Staff writer |
Tyson Roach |
Sam Houston |
The 120 lbs. weight class only had four entrants and was run in a round-robin format. That just meant three wrestlers got to lose to Sam Houston's Tyson Roach rather than just two. His first match was a 17-1 technical fall. His last was a fall in 0:57. The match in between was the finals match, and it pitted the Bronco Division I 106 lbs. state champion against the Division II 106 lbs. state champion, Brennan Romero of Teurlings Catholic. Roach showed no appreciation of the caliber of his opponent, pinning Romero in 1:14. Only Jesuit's Bodi Harris had gone the "full six" with Roach at that time (St. Louis' Luke Caballero did it on November 17th), and that was in a Warrior Open finals match won by Roach 9-5.
