The Rebels won their fourth championship, and third in-a-row, when Brandt
Babineaux pinned Rummel's Austin Shook in 5:54. One can bet this match
will be repeated at least once before the state championships. Babineaux and
Shook were expected to meet in the finals. If there was a surprise it was
Holy Cross freshman Rylee Reeves, who placed third. As an eighth-grader
Reeves went 2-2 at the state championship, so perhaps finishing third was not so
surprising. (Expect him to make a little noise this season. He won
three matches, and received a forfeit in the finals, to win the Griffin Open
today.)
