The only mar on Basile's defending Division III state champion Luc Johnson's record was an 8-7 loss to TC's Hudson Sharon in the finals of the Jacob McMillan Memorial.  Johnson had earlier defeated Hudson 15-10, and Hudson had lost to three other Louisiana wrestlers, good one, mind you, prior to this event.  To secure his place as the best wrestler at 152 lbs., though, the 1-1 series with Sharon needed to be addressed.  Sharon must have felt the same.  Sharon's problem, though, was that Lafayette's Jensen Bergeron, who had defeated Sharon in the LACL CSFs, was seeded second in this event.  Sharon, seeded third, would have to get past him to earn a tie-breaking match with Johnson.  He did just that, though, shutting out Bergeron 5-0 prior to recording a fall in 3:39.

While Sharon had the win at the Jacob McMillan,  Johnson won the LACL, in which he pinned Bergeron in 1:25.  Johnson was unbeatable after the loss to Sharon, and the Bearcat senior dominated the Rebel junior 10-2 before scoring a fall in 5:45.

Bergeron, as he did at the Trey Culotta and the Louisiana Classic, placed third via a 6-2 win over North Desoto's Chase Smart.  Sam Houston's Peyton Miller, seeded sixth, placed fifth with a win over Rummel's unseeded Cameron Gandolfi, who advanced to the quarterfinals with a win over the #8 seed and then to the CSFs with a win over the #4 seed.
