[Entries below adjusted for final weight class placements.]
Forty-six Louisiana wrestlers from 15 schools travelled to Virginia Beach, Virginia for the 2023 National High School Coaches Association Nationals, to be held from Friday, March 24th through Sunday, March 26th, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
The Jesuit Blue Jays are not resting on any
2023 Division I state championship laurels as they have 10 entrants,
including Division I champions Bodi Harris and Spencer Lanosga, and
runners-up Michael Barnett and Jackson Calderaro. Lanosga will
seek to defend the 2022 NHSCA Virginia Beach Nationals title he won last
year. St. Paul entered the second most wrestlers with seven. OK, six really. Mr. Barker, you must graduate now and cannot wrestle in the LHSAA 2023-24 season. Lafayette has four entrants (well, two non-seniors), as do Acadians, Catholic and Teurlings Catholic with four apiece. Chalmette has three, Sam Houston and Shaw have two each, and Brother Martin, De la Salle, Erath, Holy Cross, St. Thomas More and Sulphur have one apiece. |

Michael Barnett and Jackson Calderano of Jesuit, Christian Worley and Kristian Scott of Catholic, and Conlan Enk of St. Paul were runners-up.
Division II state champions include Alex Rozas and Braedon Simoneaux of Teurlings Catholic, and Tyson Roach of Sam Houston. Runners-up include Teurlings Catholic's Brandt Babineaux and Brennan Boyer.
Representing Division III are state champion Ryan Fobbs of Erath and runners-up Blake Andre of Shaw and Liam O'Connor of De la Salle.
And one cannot forget Sam Houston's Girls state champion and Outstanding Wrestler Chevy Coleman.

Keep an eye on the sophomore 120 lbs. bracket, also, as Texas' Allen High School 6A UIL state champion Kelby Bernard is competing. Bernard is the son of Lafayette Scrappers coach Glenn Bernard, the only other man I know with the confidence to wear a tux during the state finals. [Photo left from the 2018 state championships.
