The safe money says to stay away from Holy Cross' Nicholas DiGeralamo next season at the Spartan Invitational.  In 2021 and 2022 it was the sophomore's first event of the season, and he lost in the finals both times to champions who were later named the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.  In 2021 he lost via a freshman mistake.  In 2022 he was not 100%, and probably should have skipped the event.  But that is not the way DiGeralamo faces things, and his finals loss was only via a 6-4 score.  A little more than a week later he lost a semifinals match to a Florida wrestler 6-5 at the Border Wars.  DiGeralamo placed third and the Florida kid won.  But that was all re DiGeralamo losing any more matches.  After the Border Wars he finished his season 20-0, a record including wins over 160 D1 5th-placer Sean Marquette of Covington, 4th-placer Sergio Houston of Zachary, 3rd-placer Arthur Schott of Jesuit and  four times, including in the Division I finals, over Brother Martin sophomore Rory Horvath.  All of his matches against Horvath were wins by Major Decisions.  During that run he won his second Louisiana Classic, putting him on pace to become the fifth wrestler to win the event four times (Brother Martin's Richie Clementi is on track to do that as well, but he should be in a lower weight class and should do it a few matches before DiGeralamo.

Horvath had a season to be proud of despite the losses to DiGeralamo and two other Louisiana wrestlers.  He placed second at the Cinco Ranch Big 12, the Saints Invitational II and the Louisiana Classic.  He placed third at the Bulldog Brawl, the Trey Culotta and fourth at the Mid-Cals.  He defeated Division I 152 lbs. state champion Aiden Lindsey and Division II state champion Lake Bates of North Desoto.  Next season he has a chance to take the head spot at the Horvath table, as his older brother Rocco won as a senior and even older Riley was a runner-up.  He did not get another shot at Mandeville senior Miles Edwards, who defeated him 7-2 at the Bulldog Brawl, but he avenged a 5-3 dual meet loss against Sam Houston's Peyton Miller with a fall in 4:52 at another dual meet.
