Sharon has run out of podium room
LHSAA State Wrestling Tournament
Division II 152 Pounds

Hunter Sharon placed third at state as a freshman.  He placed second last season, and this year he moved to the top spot on the podium.  Someone needs to build another tier, only, if the math is to be consistent, it would be labeled "0."  Nobody wants to finish "0."  This may be a problem Sharon is fine figuring out on his own.

Sharon, if one looks at his 2022-23 record, had an excellent season.  He placed third at the Tiger Open, second at the Gulf Coast Clash (the losses in those events were SV matches), fifth at the Louisiana Classic and second at the Ken Cole.  He won the Riot on the Red, the Brusly Invitational and the Jacob McMillan, Perhaps he would rather have placed higher in the harder tournaments, but he can lay claim to something no other wrestler in the season did.  In the Jacob McMillan he beat Basile's Luc Johnson.  Johnson, and Lafayette's Jensen Bergeron, who bested Sharon at the LACL, have graduated.  So did Chris Miller, his finals opponent.  Gunner Guidry of Holy Cross and Peyton Miller of Sam Houston are the only remaining wrestlers who beat Sharon who will be around next season.  Sharon only had the one match with Guidry, but after losing to Miller in the second round of the LACL, he defeated the Sam Houston sophomore three straight.

Brusly's Chris Miller was a Division III runner-up to Basile's Luc Johnson in 2022.  This season Miller won the Brusly 8 and the Rayne Invitational, placed second at the Griffin Open, third in the Greater Baton Rouge Championships and tied for third at the Ken Cole with teammate Silas Robichaux.  Of his 11 losses prior to the finals match with Sharon, three were to Division I champions Aiden Lindsey of Fontainebleau, Nick DiGeralamo of Holy Cross and Landry Barker of St. Paul.  Seven were to other Division I wrestlers who placed in the state championships.  The one who did not place was one win away from placing.  Miller pinned his three opponents prior to his finals match.
