Evangel junior Michael Brame, II only lost to four Louisiana wrestlers this season.  Jesuit's Chase Haydel (D1 3rd), Antonio Barraza (D3 1st) North Desoto's Nathan Adams (D2 4th) and Parkway's Christopher Bacot, who did not compete at the state championships.  He only won two tournaments prior to the state tournament.  One was in Arkansas and the other in Texas.  He finished third at the Riot on the Red, the Lone Survivor, the Jimmy Vidrine Division III and the North Louisiana Regionals. 

A match that the editor does not count as a loss was an injury default to Shaw's Hayden Tassin.  That is one reason why Tassin was seeded first in the weight class despite having 10 losses.  Tassin won the Jacob McMillan, placed fourth at the Tiger Invitational and sixth at the Ken Cole.  He also defeated Barraza and, in general, faced stiffer competition than Brame did.

Finals

(2) Michael Brame, II of Evangel pinned (1) Hayden Tassin of Shaw in 4:38 Brame scored the first takedown, but Tassin escaped and scored his own takedown to take a 3-2 lead after the first two minutes.  Brame, however, owned the second two minutes 4-1.  In the third period Brame scored two takedowns after two Tassin escapes - all within 38 seconds.  Tassin appeared to be injured after the second takedown , but the Eagle senior is not one to quit due to some minor, or major, discomfort.  He kept wrestling, but Brame persisted and end up recording a fall in 4:38.
