| St. Amant increases its lead |
| December 30th, 2025| Written by: Staff writer |
The St. Amant Gators took a beating in the semifinals, yet actually increased its lead over all others, save host East Ascension. The Spartans were 67 points behind St. Amant before the semifinals matches. After the semifinals, East Ascension had reduced that deficit to 60 points and were in second place. The Spartans did advance two wrestlers into the finals, whereas Terrebonne only advanced one. Otherwise, while if I spent enough time on it, I might be able to deduce how the Spartans leap-frogged over Walker, Chalmette and Terrebonne to lead in the race for the runner-up trophy.
| School | Before Semis | Points Behind | After Semis | Points Behind |
| St. Amant | 158 | 193.5 | ||
| East Ascension | 91 | -67 | 133.5 | -60 |
| Terrebonne | 111 | -47 | 127 | -66.5 |
| Fontainebleau | 91 | -67 | 121 | -69.5 |
| Chalmette | 97 | -61 | 120.5 | -70 |
| Walker | 96 | -62 | 119 | -74.5 |
| Dutchtown | 88 | -70 | 116 | -77.5 |
With nine semifinalists, even though they only advanced two to the finals, the "before semis" Gators had already earned a lot of points that could not be posted until after the semifinals. They received runner-up points for their two finalists, but the other seven were given sixth-place bonus points.
St. Amant has three finalists, as does Baton Rouge. East Ascension, Lafayette, Acadiana, Fontainebleau and Southside each have two finalists. Slidell, Sam Houston, Carencro, Dutchtown, Sulphur, Destrehan, Terrebonne, Chalmette, Walker, Byrd, Live Oak and Basile each have one finalist. The 60 point St. Amant lead after the semifinals is more than enough to take home the championship trophy.
