Weight Class Synopsis | Quarterfinals | Semifinals | 3rd and 5th | Finals |
Final records include Louisiana losses but all wins
By December 5th Marc Martinez of Brusly had
amassed a 15-0 record which included wins over Jaden Shirley of St. Amant (9-7
SV) and Happy Butler of Catholic (fall in 1:03).
In fact, he had not wrestled a Division III opponent.
He was definitely seeded in the right place.
So was De la Salle junior Spencer Hughes.
Hughes had upset defending Division II state champion Ryder Hawley in the
first round of the Louisiana Classic, and placed third at the Brusly
Invitational, fourth at the Spartan Invitational and eighth at the Trey Culotta
Invitational. His one loss in
Division III was to Basile’s Ethan Langley, but Langley injured himself on
January 16th and was unable to participate in the state
championships.
