Weight Class Synopsis | Quarterfinals | Semifinals | 3rd and 5th | Finals |
Final records include Louisiana losses but all wins
The best record here was that of St. Louis sophomore Henry
Milligan. At 6-2 he won the Brusly
Invitational with a 6-0 decision over second-seeded Bryson Walker of Brusly.
But in a dual meet he lost to East Ascension’s Nicholas Russell.
That docked him a spot because a full 50% of De la Salle’s Byron
Phillips, III’s wins were one match over Russell.
Actually this weight class was seeded just fine, even though Phillips and
fifth-seeded Camden Maroon of Church Point respected the seeding committee’s
choices come awards time..
Walker avenged his Brusly Invitational loss to Milligan with a 4-3 win that put him in the finals. Milligan cruised past Maroon in 1:05 to make the consolation finals. There he met sixth-seeded Joel Marchand of Hannan, who avenged a quarterfinals 3-1 SV loss to fourth-seeded Aden Laborde of John Curtis with an 8-4 consolation semifinals win. Milligan took third in 0:41 and Maroon defeated Laborde via a fall in 4:13 to place fifth.
