pounds Boudreaux completes sweep of...well...Boudreaux |
April 14th, 2023 | Written by: Staff writer |
Undefeated TC senior and two-time defending Division II state champion Ethan Boudreaux had previously defeated his 2021-2022 namesake nemesis Wiley Boudreaux in the Louisiana Classic and five days later in a dual meet. This would be the last match between the seniors, and the Southside Boudreaux did better than in his previous two attempts, yet still fell 9-6. Regardless, both should be #1 seeds come the state championships.
The semifinals matches were the hardest for the Boudreauxs, as they should have been. Ethan defeated #5 Caleb Andrews in 5:28 (albeit he was ahead 15-1 at the time, so it was hard in the sense that the match took over five minutes). Wiley won his third and final match against Dutchtown's #3 Cole Gros. Gros and Boudreaux met in the consolation finals and the sophomore Gros prevailed 9-4, albeit sadly that was Gros' last match of the season.
For fifth place, fourth-seeded Tyler Villareal, who lost in Round Two, bested Sulphur's unseeded Ja'Marques Bland, who won four matches in the consolation bracket before falling to Gros in the CSFs.
