Finalists: Kendon Lee-Kayser (Brusly) vs. Tyler
Bradley (Pace)
Last
week Brusly freshman Kendon Lee-Keyser stunned Comeaux's returning
Division I state runner-up Connor Stampley 12-6 in the semifinals of the
St. Michael Warrior Open. This week he faced two Florida wrestlers
ranked in the top 15 of their respective divisions. This bothered
Lee-Keyser not at all.
In the finals the freshman faced Pace High School's Taylor Bradley.
In a relatively tame first period Lee-Keyser opened a 2-0 lead.
Constantly riding legs and hanging onto Bradley when the Patriot
wrestler stood up, Lee-Keyser increased his lead to 4-0 with a second
period reversal. That was cut in half with a reversal by Bradley in the
third period, but Lee-Keyser reversed right back and added a couple of
nearfall points. As the clock ran down Lee-Keyser had an 8-2 win.
Additionally, Lee-Keyser was voted the Outstanding Wrestler in the lower
weight classes. |
