Finalists: Noah Landry (Brusly) vs. Daniel Soto
(The Villages)
If Noah Landry is not a
very familiar name to some, it is probably because the last time he
wrestled was in the 2011-12 season for the Mandeville Skippers.
But sitting out a season to compete for the Panthers did well for the
Brusly senior. Last week he finished second to Catholic's Brennan
Taylor at the St. Michael Warrior Open. But that was at 145
pounds. At 138 pounds he looked superb.
Landry faced Daniel Soto of The Villages in the finals. By the
time the second period ended he had amassed a 6-0 lead. In the
third period Soto managed to score one point, but Landry added three,
with his final takedown occurring with 0:28 seconds remaining. As
the clock wound down to zero, Landry had a 9-1 victory and his first
tournament championship of the season. |
