Rivalries do
not get much better than Brother Martin vs. Jesuit.
Of late the Crusaders have been dominant. But Jesuit
has improved a lot since last season, despite losing state
champions Mitch Capella and Manny Armour to graduation.
If anyone does, the Blue Jays have an outside shot of
dethroning Brother Martin in their bid for their third
Division I state championship in succession.
Jesuit won only five of the 14 matches, but three of those
matches were by three or less points. Another one
could go either way, as at 182 lbs. Jesuit's Guy Patron, Jr.
has beaten Yehia Riles. And Jesuit had to forfeit the
195 lbs. class. But this day belonged to the
Crusaders. The Blue Jays will get another chance on
February 5th when Jesuit visits the Brother Martin campus.
The match started with the 195 lbs. weight class, but as
drama was not a major factor, the scores below will reflect
ascending weight class order. |
