Four teams were expected to go undefeated in Saturday's pool competitions.  Three of them did.

Pool A: After wins of 78-0, 60-21 and 64-22 in the first three rounds of Saturday's pool competition, the Archer, GA Tigers ran into a pumped-up team in the Oklahoma Rampage.  The Rampage opened up a 30-12 lead after the first 10 matches, and Archer's 12 points included matches won by their state champion Bullard brothers (nine points via a major decision and a technical fall).  But then Archer went on an 18-point run with two pins and two decisions, netting the score at 30-30 with one match remaining.  Archer put forth a junior who placed third in the 2014 Georgia 6A 106 lbs. state championships.  The Rampage sent sophomore Levi Youngwolfe of Pawhuska High school who, in the 2013 Oklahoma 3A state championships at 113 lbs., went two-and-out.  But Youngwolfe was not fazed and caught his opponent's' head and ankle from the neutral position, turned it into a cradle and finished the match in 47 seconds (photo left), as well as the meet at 36-30.

Pool B: Easton, Pennsylvania hails from one of the toughest districts in one of the toughest states in which to qualify wrestlers for the state championships.  That Easton had three of them speaks very well of that team, albeit they only brought one, Evan Fidelibus, to the event.  Easton rolled over their competition with scores of 63-14, 59-12, 90-0 and, to the chagrin of local fans, 39-21 over the Brother Martin Crusaders.

Pool C: Mater Dei of Evansville, Indiana, scored more points than any other team in Saturday's pool competition, recording wins of 43-23, 64-9, 79-0 and 81-0.  'Nuff said.

Pool D: Team Valley of Iowa unpretentiously destroyed everyone in their path.  They were not boisterous or loud.  Their coaches did not yell at them during matches.  They just effused an air that seemed to say "Well, we are from Iowa.  This is what we do."  On Saturday they recorded wins of 59-23, 72-9, 81-6 and 69-12 to become one of the top four seeds for Sunday.
