Finals
Robert Fairchild (Rummel) defeated
Cameron Carpenter (Catholic) 14-1 |
As usual Fairchild just used fundamental moves
to perfection to remain undefeated and secure his third championship
title. He used single-leg and double-leg takedowns, a turn-in
single-leg reversal, tilts to score nearfall points and only allowed one
third period escape by the Catholic sophomore. The Rummel junior
is a textbook example of how fundamentals with authority equal wins. |
|
Seeding Implications: Rummel's Fairchild has three tournament
victories in as many tries and is undefeated. The nod at 113 pounds,
though, goes to Brother Martin's returning state champion Steven
Shields, who has two championships to his credit and who is ranked higher in the
Brother Martin hierarchy than Paul Schmidt, whom Fairchild defeated by only a
4-0 score in their last meeting.
